Search Help:

  • Keyword - A keyword search will find items anywhere in the bibliographic record.
  • Other Fields - A field search will find items that appear in the element corresponding to the selected field, e.g., "Artist's Name", "Repository Name", "Note", etc.
  • Boolean search - A search for "smith" or "kiki" will find records containing "Smith", or records containing "Kiki", whereas a search for "smith" and "kiki" will find items containing both "Smith" and "Kiki." Mixed Boolean searches such as "Jane and Doe or John" or "Jane or Doe and John" are not supported.
  • Truncation - For right-truncated queries, use an asterisk. The query term "williams*" finds all records containing the word "Williams" or "Williamson", or any other word that starts with the prefix "williams."
  • Phrase searching - Use double quotes to search for a specific phrase. For example: "Kiki Smith" as a name in that form as opposed to "Kiki" and "Smith" as keywords. Truncation does not work inside of phrases.
  • Date searching - Enter a four digit year. Supports wildcards e.g. 195* for the 1950s.
